Review Of The Week
It’s been another busy and exciting week of learning here at FHIS, with our students diving into a range of fascinating topics!
In EYFS, the children have been exploring the wonderful world of minibeasts. They’ve shown great enthusiasm for learning about the insects and creatures that live around us. As part of their studies, they created some fantastic 'creepy crawly' collages, showcasing their creativity and newfound knowledge. The class has been buzzing with excitement as they’ve observed and discussed the minibeasts they discovered, developing both their artistic skills and understanding of the natural world.
Year 1 has been fully immersed in their ‘Into the Woodland’ writing unit. This week, they took their learning outdoors to our very own WOWA woodland area, where they explored the sights, sounds, and textures of the natural environment. Their experiences in the woodland have sparked their imaginations, and they’ve been busy writing vivid descriptions and stories inspired by their adventure. It’s been wonderful to see their creativity come alive as they’ve connected with nature in such a meaningful way.
Meanwhile, Year 2 has been researching the world-renowned Sir David Attenborough. The children have been learning about his incredible explorations, his passion for photography, and his dedication to documenting the wonders of the animal kingdom. The students have been fascinated by the diverse habitats Sir David has visited and the animals he’s encountered. They’ve been eager to share their findings with their peers and have even started to think about their own wildlife documentaries, inspired by his work.
It’s been a week full of exploration, creativity, and learning, and we couldn’t be prouder of the progress our children are making. We look forward to more exciting adventures in the weeks ahead!
A huge FHIS thank you to all the fantastic grandparents who visited the children on Thursday afternoon to talk about the past, their lives and even show our children some of their favourite toys from the past! This has been a wonderful experience for all involved, and we thank you for your openness to speaking to the children and providing them with first-hand recounts of life in the past.
Thank you!
